My name is Ashley-Jayne Osborn, and I love love.

I love writing and music.

I love people and places.

I love nature and food.

I love passion and truth.

I love a lot of things, including you. No joke.

I have made it my life mission — among many other goals I hope to accomplish — to make sure every single soul I encounter understands just how amazing they truly are. That’s the honest truth. If I could say this for my introduction instead of “nice to meet you” every time I meet someone new, I absolutely would.

Why?

Simply because I would want someone else to do the same for me. There’s nothing more to it.

My heart contains so much compassion for other people that sometimes I can’t even fathom it — much less handle it. But I try, because I know that honest love and acceptance is what people really deserve. It’s not just for the movies, and I desire to give it to whomever will take it… whether they are an acquaintance or a friend. (If they are a lover, then the love I dish out gets a bit more serious. But I mean it just the same). It sounds glorious, but it’s not as easy as you’d think. Many people are scared of being loved wholeheartedly. Many don’t trust and think it isn’t real. Not only that, but some take advantage of it. I’ve been a doormat far too many times to count. As a result, I tread a little lighter than I’d like and used to… but I never give up anyway.

But this is just one thing. I’m also a goofball extraordinaire. A dork. A nerd. A regular Pam Beesly. Endlessly cheesy. I get called these things a lot — whether jokingly or seriously — and I used to detest it, but now I embrace it. (I learned a long time ago that people will love you more when you’re 100% yourself, instead of trying too hard to be someone else. If they don’t dig it, they can take a hike!)

When I’m not loving or laughing or being a goof, I’m doing a lot of other things. I’m currently a college student at BYU-I, studying Communication (aka Print Journalism). I run a music blog, which is also a Tumblr, here: www.vinylsea.com. It details my independent career as an aspiring music journalist, and features both interviews and reviews from musicians big to small in fame. I hope you’ll read it and enjoy it — It was written to be read, after all.

Other quick and random odds ‘n’ ends: One of my favorite things to do is laugh, and make people laugh in return. / I’m fascinated with foreign languages. / I like eating. A LOT. / I cry when I get frustrated. / I’m drawn to melancholy music, though I’m not a melancholy person. / I think life is what you make it. / I like Devendra Banhart. / I often sit in my room and read Walt Whitman. I think he was sensational. / I’m crazy about movies — seeing them, analyzing them, etc. / I meditate as often as possible. / I have a loud voice. Sorry in advanced. / I have a horrible nail biting habit. / DRINK WATER. Please. It’s good. My favorite. / I LOVE DESSERT MORE THAN SOMEONE SHOULD. / I love words and fonts. / I like strawberries. / I think sliced apples are better than whole. / I like to sing. / I want to be vegetarian but don’t think I could ever pull it off. / Marigold yellow is my favorite color. / I’m crazy about the piano. / I adore cereal and banjos. Even better if they are together, but I’m not sure how that would work out. / God manifests himself to me in mysterious ways, and I one-hundred percent believe in His power, but I won’t press you if you don’t. / I think dogs and cats are zen masters with paws and claws. / I think good grammar is sexy. / I will never expect someone to be ‘perfect’. / I had a special gentleman once told me that he could never even fathom what it would be like to see me angry. Anger is not frequent in me. /  THIS SECTION WILL BE UPDATED CONSTANTLY!

To conclude this self-focused shindig… all I ask of you is this: Talk to me if you need me. Talk to me if you don’t. Just let me fulfill a small, but never insignificant portion, of my mission through you. Let me show you you’re worth it.
